The thriving Afro-Colombian community in Medellin is a vibrant and essential part of the city's cultural tapestry. However, this richness often remains hidden from the view of visitors. The tourism industry, as it currently stands, does not sufficiently engage with the majority of the Afro-Colombian population in Medellin. This oversight translates to a missed opportunity for the Black community in Medellin to harness the economic benefits that come with the recent surge in tourism over the past couple of years.
Our mission is to bridge this gap and create a meaningful connection between socially conscious travelers and the dynamic movements, projects, and economies led by Afro-Colombian people. One of our key initiatives in this endeavor is the Origin+Culture directory.

Fundacion Conciencia
We proudly support Fundación Conciencia's vital work in Nueva Jerusalem, Bello. With over 14 years of experience dedicated to enhancing the well-being and progress of families in vulnerable circumstances, this foundation provides training, education, and sustenance to 260 young girls and boys in the Nueva Jerusalem neighborhood of Bello.
Origin+Culture spearheads the weekly English program for the foundation's youth leaders. We're continually seeking dedicated volunteers to complement our long-term volunteers in this program. No prior teaching experience is necessary, and volunteers are encouraged to participate for a single day or commit to a longer-term engagement based on their availability.
