About Origin + Culture
OUR STORY
Origin + Culture was founded on the belief that meaningful connections are built through people, not just places.
Long before Origin + Culture existed, its founders were actively involved in Afro-Colombian community spaces, cultural initiatives, educational programs, and grassroots efforts throughout Medellín. Through these relationships, they were often sought out by travelers, students, universities, and organizations looking to engage more deeply with local communities and culture.
What began as informal cultural exchanges eventually evolved into Origin + Culture: an organization dedicated to creating opportunities for connection, learning, and mutual understanding across communities.
Today, Origin + Culture serves as a bridge between visitors and local communities, helping facilitate experiences that are grounded in respect, reciprocity, and meaningful cultural exchange.

Our mission is to connect people through culture, education, and community while creating opportunities that support Afro-Colombian initiatives, entrepreneurs, and local leaders.
We believe that travel, when approached thoughtfully, can be a powerful tool for learning, relationship-building, and economic empowerment.
What We Do

We create opportunities for learning, dialogue, and cultural understanding through language programs, university partnerships, cultural exchanges, and community engagement.
Economic Empowerment
We intentionally collaborate with Afro-Colombian entrepreneurs, artists, organizations, and small businesses, helping increase visibility and create opportunities for sustainable community growth.
