Bringing Together the Black Community
Founded in 2022 by Andrea Ardila and Juan David Arias, Origin + Culture is a nonprofit committed to uplifting marginalized communities in Medellín. Rooted in a deep devotion to Afro-Colombian culture and community collaboration, we work alongside local movements to amplify voices, promote economic empowerment, and drive sustainable change.
Through cultural initiatives, educational programs, and advocacy, we strive to create meaningful impact and celebrate the resilience of the people who shape Medellín.
Reuniendo a la Comunidad Negra
Fundada en 2022 por Andrea Ardila y Juan David Arias, Origin + Culture es una organización sin ánimo de lucro comprometida con el fortalecimiento de comunidades marginadas en Medellín. Con un profundo respeto por la cultura afrocolombiana y la colaboración comunitaria, trabajamos junto a movimientos locales para amplificar voces, promover el empoderamiento económico y generar un cambio sostenible.
A través de iniciativas culturales, programas educativos y trabajo de incidencia, buscamos crear un impacto significativo y celebrar la resiliencia de las personas que dan forma a Medellín.

A portion of proceeds from our tours and group travel directly funds these programs, ensuring sustainable impact. Black Joy Parade – Since 2019, this celebration has filled the streets of Medellín with music, dance, and the spirit of the Black diaspora. Inspired by the "bunde" tradition of the Black Pacific coast, the parade honors heritage while uplifting Black-owned businesses and cultural traditions.

Black on Black Diaspora Party – A dynamic gathering that celebrates the richness of the African diaspora in Medellín and beyond. Featuring local artists, DJs, and performers, this event fosters unity, joy, and cultural pride, all while directly supporting the Afro-Colombian economy.
